First International Genealogical Scientific and Practical Conference in Omsk
DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2026-1-24
This article presents an analytical review of the First International Genealogical Research and Practical Conference, which was held in Omsk on November 8−9, 2025. The event was organized by the Omsk branch of the Ural Historical and Genealogical Society in collaboration with government agencies, commercial entities, and public organizations in the region. This publication aims to provide analytical coverage of the forum. The authors of this work were active participants in the event. The principles of systematicity and determinism, used as a “theoretical core” in writing the work, allowed for a structural summary of the main results of the event, which is considered a significant phenomenon in the scientific, cultural, and social life of the country, with its own causal precursor and probable consequences. Based on the specifics of the publication genre, the key scientific method used in preparing this review is problem and chronological. The review presents the qualitative formal parameters of the conference, lists the key reports that set the general line of discussion, and provides a description of the main issues addressed in the presentations. The additional cultural components that accompanied the event are described as well. The final section of the review presents the authors’ conclusion. It draws readers’ attention to the valuable experience of the Omsk Region in partnering with a public organization, uniting practicing genealogists and the regional state archival service. The review focuses on interdisciplinary knowledge, drawing on a few applied areas of the humanities. Therefore, this work is potentially of interest to a wide range of specialists, including researchers in the history of historical science, cultural anthropology, auxiliary (specialized) historical disciplines, and local history.
