From the Editor
The central theme of the issue is the agricultural development of Russia. The authors analyze the peasant economy during the pre-revolutionary period, grain collection policy in the 1930s, source problems of official statistics in the years of “stagnation”, the dynamics of agricultural production during the post-Soviet period, and the sociocultural appearance of the modern peasantry. A prominent place in the issue is occupied by analytical publications of archival documents representing from different viewpoints various aspects of historical development covered in these documents. The works in the section “Miscellanea” are devoted to relevant problems of Russian history. A number of messages inform readers about the events of scientific life in Siberia.

Agriculture and Non-Farm Works in the Peasant Economy of the North-Western Village in the Late 19th – early 20th Centuries (Based on the Materials of the Luga District of St. Petersburg Governorate)
The article examines the state of the peasant farms of the Luga district of the capital’s governorate at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries; determines the correlation between agricultural occupations and rural non-farm works in the economy of peasant households. The author points out specific features of the use of male and female labor in agriculture and non-farm works.

Grain Collection Campaign of 1936/1937 in the West Siberian Region
The article focuses on a detailed reconstruction of the course and results of the grain collection campaign of 1936/37 in the West Siberian region. The topic was analyzed in the context of the agrarian policy of the Soviet state. It was found out that in 1936/37 the ruling regime eased pressure on the village. Grain supply rates were decreased and arrears were written off from collective farms.

Author analyzes features of historical sources for constructing dynamical series of agricultural development in West Siberia in the second half of 1960s – first half of 1980s. Identification of main development trends of agricultural sector of economy, its sectoral, organizational and productive structure during the period under study is possible only on the basis of dynamical series of agricultural development.

Peasant way of Life: Survival and Self-Expression in the Contemporary Siberian Village
In the summer, 2017 the national study was carried out to ascertain changes in the behaviour of agricultural producers in the situation of food embargo. The sociological research in Asino district of Tomsk region was part of that study. It was based on the expert sociological interviewing the focus group of the people involved in agricultural production.

On the Question of the Yenisei Ostyaks’ Origin
The article makes a short excursus to the history of one of the least numerous peoples of Siberia – Kets (Yenisei Ostyaks); traces the history of the first contacts of Russian service men with the Kets. At first, the Russian yasak collectors did not distinguish between the Ob Khanty, Narym Selkups and Yenisey Kets who belonged to a similar economic and cultural type.

Crimean Tatars serving in Siberia in the 17th Century
The paper collects and summarizes scattered information about the Crimean Tatars, who came in a wide variety of ways to serve in Siberia in the early period of its development. It is shown that some of them voluntarily made “trips” to Moscow, where they were holding fairly high positions in the system of state administration and served in the army, while others were captured during the constant military conflicts between Crimea and Russia.

Activity of Polish Public Organizations in Siberia in 1917–1920
Polish public organizations started emerging in Russia after the February Revolution of 1917. In 1918, the Polish National Committee for Siberia and Russia (PNC) and the Polish Military Committee in Russia (PMC) were established. The PMC and the PNC sought to divide the spheres of activity between them, but there was serious disagreement between Polish organizations and unions in Siberia at the very beginning of their work.
