The article discusses the need to preserve and promote the architectural and cultural heritage of a provincial Siberian city, which is reflected in the abundance of material evidence from the 18th and early 20th centuries. The article presents the experience of museumification at the Yenisei Museum-Reserve, which illustrates the mechanisms for integrating historical and cultural values into modern social reality. The importance of such an approach for preserving the region’s identity and attracting the attention of a wide audience is emphasized. The model of organizing a museum-reserve has several advantages, as it not only ensures the physical preservation of monuments but creates conditions for studying and promoting the historical and cultural heritage, thus being one of the most effective ways to preserve and update it. The process of museumification allows for the preservation of Yeniseysk’s unique architecture, which may be lost due to a lack of resources and attention. The preservation of cultural heritage sites is crucial for understanding the historical context, fostering national identity, and promoting domestic tourism. The purposeful and well-thought-out adaptation of the architectural sites of the Yeniseysk Museum-Reserve, aimed at preserving the historical appearance of the city, contributes to the development of a sense of pride among local residents, strengthens their social cohesion, and enhances their cultural awareness.
