 DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2025-6-3

This article examines a fragment of the personal library of Ivan Petrovich Liprandi (1790−1880), a Russian military leader, writer, and collector whose work explores military history and the Schism. The study attempts to reconstruct the nature of I.P. Liprandi’s connections with the Decembrist movement through an analysis of the composition and features of his personal library. The focus is on the portion of his book collection held in the collections of the A. Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan. The purpose of this article is to introduce new documents related to the history of this collection into scholarly circulation and to analyze its distinctive features. The primary research methods used were historical and bibliological analysis, visual examination of the library collections, and bibliographic method. The study analyzes the composition of the collection, which includes rare editions from the 18th−19th centuries, cartographic materials, manuscripts, and documents reflecting Liprandi’s interests as a researcher of Eastern cultures and military strategy. In particular importance are copies with author’s notes, dedicatory inscriptions, and bookplates, which allow us to reconstruct the owner’s intellectual circle. Using the collections of the A. Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan, the history of part of its book collection is reconstructed, revealing its composition and distinctive features. This study helped clarify the connection between Liprandi’s intellectual interests, his official activities, and his controversial reputation. The data obtained will contribute to the study of the history of Russian book collecting in the 19th century, providing a methodological model for analyzing personal libraries as sources for intellectual history. The work is particularly significant for Pushkin scholars given the presence of publications used by A.S. Pushkin in this collection.
