The Politics of Representing of the History of the Decembrists in the Museum Word of Siberia at the Beginning of the 21st Century

In connection with the 200th anniversary of the events on Senate Square on December 14, 1825, attention is being drawn to this socio-political phenomenon, which includes the policy of representing the history of the Decembrists in the museum world of Siberia at the beginning of the 21st century. Based on a comprehensive analysis of all Siberian Decembrist museums in the concept of the author’s methodological and methodical model – the museum world of Siberia, positions related to the policy of representing the history of the Decembrists in the regional socio-cultural space are identified for the first time. The history of the museum network's creation has been reconstructed, and it has been established that between 1970 and 1997, six museums and museum branches were established in Irkutsk, Yalutorovsk, Novoselenginsk, Petrovsk-Zabaikalsky, Chita, and Minusinsk. The main areas of policy for representing the history of the Decembrists in Siberia include: 1) adaptation of expositions to the ideological and socio-cultural paradigms of the corresponding period of the country’s development and scientific research: creation at the initial stage of thematic and chronological textbook expositions with the transition at the beginning of the 21th century to a new historical, anthropological, biographical principle of display; 2) formation of a developed intellectual space (holding conferences, publishing specialized publications, cooperation with public organizations), which provides a deep foundation for various forms of scientific and educational activities, the presentation of Decembrist history in the media and the Internet; 3) the implementation of projects that actualize the historical and cultural heritage of the Siberian period of the Decembrists in the socio-cultural space at the local, regional and Russian levels. An effective policy of representing the history of the Decembrists in the context of the museum world of Siberia can be used in scientific, practical, and educational activities.
