The purpose of this review is to critically analyze the new two-volume collection of works of the writer and publicist S.A. Ausländer (1886−1937). The book was published thanks to the efforts of two recently deceased researchers: the initiator of the project, A.L. Posadskov (†2024), and the compiler, Yu.L. Mandrika (†2025), whose death gave the edition a memorial status. The relevance of the publication is due to the remaining significant gap in the comprehensive scientific understanding of the Ausländer’s publicistic and literary legacy of the Kolchak period. The publication has a double significance: first, it forms a textual basis for the future complete reconstruction of the writer’s texts, and second, it has a significant heuristic potential, introducing many hard-to-find materials. This is an important milestone work that can foster interdisciplinary research on the “Ausländer phenomenon” at the intersection of political history, literary studies, intellectual history and the history of ideas. The review discusses in detail the problems of text selection, the archaeographic work carried out by the publisher, and outlines promising tasks for further textual and source material reconstruction of the legacy of the author, whose work is a valuable historical and cultural document of the era.
