DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2025-2-16
The article is dedicated to the analysis of the content of frontline newspapers published during the years of the Great Patriotic War in the Tatar language: “Alga doshman өstenә” (“Forward Against the Enemy”), “Vatan өchen sugyshka” (“To Battle for the Motherland”), “Vatan namusy өchen” (“For the Honor of the Motherland”), “Vatanny saklauda” (“Guarding the Motherland”), “Kyzyl Armiya” (“Red Army”), “Front khakyikate” (“Frontline Truth”), “Sovet sugyshchysy” (“Soviet Warrior”), “Stalin bairagy” (“Stalin’s Banner”), “Suvorovchy” (“Suvorovits”), “Җiңү bairagy” (“Banner of Victory”), as well as the Kazakh army newspaper “Zhauғa қarsy attan” (“Forward Against the Enemy”). The studied materials, which illustrate the nature and means of mass mobilization work at the front, allow for the conclusion that newspapers published on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War were a powerful factor in shaping public consciousness, actively and specifically influencing the mood and worldview of Red Army soldiers. It is shown that the majority of the articles were aimed at increasing the civic responsibility and patriotism of Soviet soldiers. Considering frontline newspapers as a historical source about frontline soldiers native to the Bashkir ASSR, materials concerning both well-known war heroes and little-known ones, whose names have been preserved only on the pages of Red Army newspapers, have been identified. Considering the high potential of the content of frontline newspapers not only in terms of the chronological events of the Great Patriotic War, examples of personal courage and heroism, but information about the everyday military life of Soviet soldiers and the biographical data of heroic frontline soldiers, it is important to involve frontline newspapers in scientific circulation as a valuable source on the history of peoples and regions.
