Culture role in postrevolutionary Siberia on pages of the journal periodical press of the first half of the 1920th is investigated. Degree of study of a subject in a modern historiography is revealed. The research definite purpose consisting in studying influence of culture on the socio-political processes in the region reflected in the magazines “Sibirskiye Ogni”, “Zhizn Sibiri”, “Sibirsky pedagogical magazin”. The main attention was paid to rise in culture of the small people and problems of education. It is noted that authors of journal articles closely connected the solution of these questions with the accelerated solution of tasks in education and health. At the same time issues of cultural development had to receive the fast decision within creation of national territorial autonomies. The provision that these offers appeared before radical transformations is proved, and during the Soviet period became the direction of public policy with assistance of the national intellectuals and journalistic community. It is shown that the solution of new tasks in Siberia was impossible without elimination of illiteracy and also development of the general and higher education. The position of magazines was that a factor of sociocultural development of Siberia have to become overcoming crisis state of school and high school institutions, strengthenings of their material resources, strengthening of interaction with public authorities. It is proved that the course towards nationalization of higher education institutions was not only the direction of public policy “from above”, but also enjoyed support “from below”. The conclusion is drawn that the journal periodical press formed information picture of sociocultural development of the region, defining value priorities in new historical conditions.
