The main goal of the issue is to characterize the metaphor “friendship of peoples” as ideologeme in Bolshevik’s ideology. In 1920 in connection with creating of USSR were explored such concept as “voluntary military-economic union”, “the indestructible union of peoples”, “the single economic front of Soviet socialist republics” and others. They meant something unique in the history of mankind, something that was created only thanks for Bolsheviks. These concepts were devoid of that quality which inherent in every ideological concept − emotional coloring. This was the first period of understanding the union of peoples within the borders of the USSR and connections between them. 1930 became a crucial period in the Bolshevik transition to the position of realism. Utopian experiments were over. Such traditional Russian concepts as “Motherland”, “patriotism”, “protection of the Fatherland” had appeared in ideology on the eve of the war. Along with them appeared concepts “friendship of peoples”, “Great Russian people”, “Russian people are the elder brother in the family of Soviet peoples”. The material on the history of Ukraine gave an opportunity to historians for creating the mythological representations about long history of peoples friendship originating in ancient times. The Bolsheviks crowned this process of rapprochement of peoples with the creation of the USSR. This work was unfolded after the Great Patriotic War, “The Short Course of the History of Ukrainia” was prepared (1948). Thanks to this condition the concept “friendship of peoples” unfolded into a concept which can be represented as four abstracts: friendship of peoples was born in prerevolution period of the history; friendship of peoples manifested itself in the fight against the external invaders; friendship of peoples took shape in the struggle against internal exploiters; the highest manifestation of friendship of peoples is creation and existence of the USSR.
