The article highlights the pages of the biography of the Daniel dynasty who connected their lives with the Chinese Eastern Railway. When writing the article, little-known documents were used, stored in the Russian State Historical Archive, the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the Central State Administration of Moscow, materials from the Museum of Russian Culture in San Francisco and the personal archive of the Daniel family were also used. Evgeny Vasilyevich Daniel worked for 18 years at the Chinese Eastern Railway, 12 of them as an Authorized Road Manager in communication with the Chinese authorities. The signature of E.V. Daniel stands on a number of important Russian-Chinese contractual acts regulating various spheres of activity of the road. Evgeny Vasilyevich was a member of various scientific and educational and charitable societies of Harbin. The Museum of Russian Culture in San Francisco contains letters from E.V. Daniel addressed to a public figure, teacher N.V. Borzov. These letters provide interesting information about the political situation in China in the 1920s–1930s. The construction work and subsequent operation of the Chinese Eastern Railway line required the creation of a powerful armed guard – a special guard. V.V. and A.V. Daniel connected their lives with this military formation. Vladimir Vasilyevich Daniel is a talented engineer, a participant in the Chinese campaign of 1900–1901, the Russian-Japanese and the First World Wars, for more than 15 years he served in a Separate corps of the border guard, including in the second Trans-Amur railway battalion of the Trans-Amur Railway brigade. Alexander Vasilyevich Daniel is an officer of the Trans-Amur district of the border guard, a participant in the Russian-Japanese and the First World Wars. His activities during the fight against the plague epidemic in Manchuria deserve special attention. A.V. Daniel’s wife, Sofya Evgenyevna (nee Lancere) also worked on the Chinese Eastern Railway. The contribution of the Daniel family to the formation and development of the road is significant, so it is quite fair to turn to the pages of the biography of this family.
