The article notes that with all the vastness of the historiography of the history of the Old Believer movement, the history of the mission of the Orthodox Russian Church among the Old Believers has not been studied enough and is a promising area of research. The main source on which the article is based is an essay published on a hectograph in Yekaterinburg at the beginning of the twentieth century: “Several letters sent in August and September 1901 by the Old Believers to His Grace Irenei, Bishop of Yekaterinburg and Irbit”. Based on this essay, the article analyzes two conflict situations that were associated with the activities of anti-schismatic missions in the Perm and Yekaterinburg dioceses. Analysis of these situations shows that within the Russian Orthodox Church there were different approaches to missionary activity: on the one hand, preference was given to administrative and police methods, on the other, emphasis was placed on dialogue. It is noted that missionaries have made a great contribution to the study of the history and ideology of the Old Believers and this contribution remains unexplored and not fully appreciated. The article reconstructs the biographies of the anti-schismatic missionaries of the Yekaterinburg diocese S.N. Romanovsky, A.I. Obtemperansky. It contains information about the activities of missionaries of the Perm diocese of Archpriest Stefan Lukanin, Venerable Martyr Varlaam (Konoplev). It is said about the Belogorsky Monastery of the Perm diocese as a missionary project.
