For the first time some personal documents of D.Ya. Rezun are introduced into scientific circulation. They include his autobiography, reports and reviews written in different years and reflecting the major milestones of his work at the Institute of History, Philology and Philosophy of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and then at the Institute of History of SB RAS. The large personal archive left by the scientist is characterized. It includes the correspondence with prominent Russian and foreign researchers, the cards with the biographies of Siberian serving people, a huge amount of photocopies of different archival sources, multiple records and sketches to articles and monographs. The authors discuss one of D.Ya. Rezun’s last scientific projects for which he collected materials throughout all his scientific life. It is concerned with the preparation of a dictionary with the biographical data of Siberian serving population of the late 16th – early 18th century. At present his disciples with the support of the Russian Foundation for basic research are working on the realization of this idea. At the Institute of History SB RAS they prepare the encyclopedic dictionary containing data about several thousands of Cossacks of various regional origin and ethnicity, who participated in the development of the North-Eastern Eurasia. The publication of the dictionary will allow a deeper understanding of the complex social and poly-ethnic structure of Siberian society, the interaction of the center with Siberian outskirts, of the state voivode authorities with the local self-government and solving other controversial issues of Siberian history. As an appendix to the article some documents revealing the career of the historian are published.
