Study of Underground Resistance in Crimea 1941−1944 in Regional Studies

The article examines the problem of underground Resistance in the occupied Crimea during the Great Patriotic War. The authors identify three periods of research on the Resistance movement in Crimea after the end of the Great Patriotic War: 1) the Soviet period of Russian historiography (from 1944 to 1991), 2) the literature of the period when the Crimean Peninsula was part of independent Ukraine (1991−2014) and 3) the post-Soviet period of Russian historiography (from 2014 to the present). Despite the fact that many interesting works have been published on the history of the Crimean underground during the Great Patriotic War, there are still no generalizing works in the scientific research field. Accordingly, the authors of the article conclude that for 80 years historians have studied in detail only some aspects of this problem and therefore it is necessary to identify new priority areas in research. At the same time, it is important to significantly supplement, clarify and focus on a number of key, according to the authors, historiographical factors. The main problem that arose when studying the underground movement in historiography is that underground patriotic organizations are not considered separately from the partisan movement, considering that underground patriots represent only an auxiliary force in the Resistance movement, and not a separate structure. In addition, the source base on the history of the underground movement consists largely of documents and materials that were compiled after the end of the Great Patriotic War, and contain a number of significant inaccuracies and omissions, which causes certain difficulties when considering this scientific problem.
