Commemoration is a phenomenon associated with the preservation of the memory of significant events of the past in public consciousness. Commemorative practices are a set of methods to consolidate, preserve and transmit the memory of the past in society. In general, they relate to the actual socio-cultural phenomena that require study at different levels, from global and national to regional, local, and personal. In the year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, commemorative practices related to the life history of the participants of these events at the front and in the rear, as well as during the postwar period, acquire special significance. These practices have a strong educational and training potential, which is necessary for the transfer of civil and patriotic traditions from one generation to another. The article presents the experience of commemorating the life path of our parents – the veterans of pedagogical work – Nikolay Alexandrovich Shelegin (24.08.1922–08.09.2015) and Anna Ivanovna Nazarova (22.06.1923–13.02.2008), who were the direct participants of the Great Patriotic War events at the front and in the rear. The view of the events of the Great Patriotic War and the context of seven decades of the country’s life after the Victory describes the personal history of our father – Honorary Citizen of the Suzun district of the Novosibirsk region. His personal memories of participation in the battles on the North-Western front, official documents, Internet resources, impressions of his contemporaries form the basis of this article. The family archive preserves the memories of life in the Siberian village during the war years and after the war. These memories “About herself and about the family”, set out in the poetic form by A.I. Nazarova, create an emotional field in the publication, which plays a significant role in commemorative practices. The integration of the public and personal is of everlasting socio-cultural importance for the preservation and transmission of traditions, transgenerational experience of forming worthy models of behavior: a patriot, a citizen, a good family man, which is now especially valuable in our country.
