 DOI:10.31518/2618-9100-2018-1-4

The article is devoted to the actual problems of the biography of the prominent historical figure of Soviet Siberia and Far East, the partisan and military leader N. A. Kalandarishvili. The life story of this charismatic personality is still based on persistent historical myths and far from reality. Based on the documents found in the central and local archives, the author reconstructs the main outline of the genuine biography of Kalandarishvili; proves that much of the information about the life of this partisan and revolutionary was false as he was hiding criminal aspects of his life both before and after the Revolution. Another aspect shown in the article is Kalandarishvili's role in the activities of the Comintern in the Far East. The life story of N. A. Kalandarishvili provides extensive material about the practices of adaptation and survival of people with criminal inclinations, which enabled them to make remarkable careers during the Civil War.
