Historical Memory of Repression through the Prism of Modern School Education (2014−2024)
DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2024-5-14
The trend of unification of the school curriculum, which has clearly manifested itself in the last decade, was expressed first in the adoption of a Historical and cultural standard, the reduction of the variety of textbooks on the history of Russia, and then in the appearance of a unified textbook. The topic of political repression carried out by the Soviet government was listed among the “complex issue of the history of Russia” in the Concept of a new educational and methodological complex on national history. The question of how this topic is revealed in modern textbooks seems to be extremely relevant. The article provides a comparative analysis of the content of textbooks on the history of Russia of the 10th grade in terms of coverage of the repressive policy of the Soviet state. It is concluded that the new unified textbook on the history of Russia has not radically changed the position on the issue of repression as in the previous versions, the problem of repressive policies was not represented extensively. The emphasis is shifting from repressive to rehabilitative policies. The repressions against the clergy and the high command of the Red Army are considered in more detail, and the mention of the national operations of the NKVD disappears. This “complex issue” of history is not reflected in the additional materials of the new unified textbook.
