 DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2025-1-22

This article draws attention to the little-studied problem of interaction between regional researchers of the history of culture and the intelligentsia of Siberia. The task is to identify the forms and directions of influence on strengthening the regional research potential of the authoritative Novosibirsk school of social cultural studies, created by V.L. Soskin within the framework of the activities of the history of cultural construction sector of the Institute of History of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The implementation of coordination functions by the sector in accordance with the program for the study and development of Siberia is being studied. A hypothesis is put forward about the effectiveness of a possible model for strengthening the communicative space of the region through horizontal scientific connections. The solution of the indicated problem and the verification of the hypothesis are proposed using the example of analyzing the specifics of the content of V.L. Soskin’s scientific contacts with Omsk historians, starting from the late 1970s and up to the early 2000s. From a methodological point of view, intellectual history, the institutional approach and the paradigm of memory are the mainstays for us. Of the methods used, priority is given to the included observation, so naturally memoir shades appear in our article. Monographs, texts of reports at scientific conferences and articles from scientific collections and journals are used as historiographical sources. As a result, the three main forms of interaction between the Novosibirsk scientific school and Omsk historians was revealed: (1) individual contacts; (2) participation in scientific conferences and editorial boards of the journal Cultural Studies in Siberia; (3) the influence of the scientific legacy of V.L. Soskin into the training of PhD candidates and into the curricula of master’s and bachelor’s programs at the Historical Faculty of Omsk State University.
