 DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2022-1-19

The article analyzes the objects of the material Jewish heritage of Krasnodar. It is shown that the most significant of the cultural monuments for modern Jewish organizations and communities are the historical building of the synagogue and the site of the Jewish cemetery in the city center. The study demonstrates how these objects become symbolically significant and influence the formation of continuity and group identity of the Jews of Krasnodar. Also, attention is paid to the list of objects of cultural heritage of the region and the process of registering monuments of Jewish culture in this list. The author comes to the conclusion that due to the limited number of Jews in the city, throughout the entire historical period, the number of monuments of Jewish history and culture is also relatively small, therefore, the remaining objects acquire even greater historical weight. This fact is confirmed by the fact that the building of the synagogue is under the protection of the state, and the cemetery site is undergoing the registration procedure, thus the significance of the objects is confirmed by the regional and city authorities.
