DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2024-6-7
The article describes the state of medical care for children during the war and post-war years. The article examines the morbidity and mortality rates of children in Kuzbass, including minors in children’s social, educational (children’s reception and distribution centers), social (orphanages and children’s homes) institutions. The article identifies and describes the problems of providing pediatricians and shows solutions to overcome the shortage of personnel by local authorities. The author notes that during the war and throughout the post-war twenty years, the level of childhood morbidity was high and required constant and decisive measures from local party and health authorities to protect the health of children. As a result, there was a decrease in morbidity and mortality. By the end of the 1950s, many types of infectious diseases were eliminated. A system for the prevention, warning, and diagnosis of many childhood diseases was developed. However, it was not possible to completely solve the problem of the shortage of pediatricians in children’s social (orphanages, children’s reception centers, children’s homes) and medical institutions (hospitals, clinics, children’s areas) of Kuzbass by the end of the 1950s. The reasons were the outflow of doctors to other regions of the country. Medical universities could not fully provide the region with doctors. The article is based on documentary materials from the archives of the Kemerovo and Novosibirsk regions.
