The Specifics of Adaptation after the Great Patriotic War of the Population of the Kazakh SSR (1945–1950s)

The article examines the processes of adaptation of individual local communities to the conditions of civilian life after the end of the Great Patriotic War. Using the example of the Kazakh people, it is shown that the rehabilitation processes in the Kazakh SSR took place with their own characteristics: on the one hand, the republic was in a rather difficult socio-economic situation, on the other hand, various peoples from all over the state were massively resettled to these territories. This situation not only led to interethnic and interfaith contradictions, but also complicated the processes of adaptation to a peaceful society. Despite the fact that the Kazakhs were provided with various forms of socio-economic (pensions, benefits, medical care, assistance with employment and education, etc.) and socio-psychological support (support from society, the creation of various organizations, obtaining titles, etc.), returning to a state of “normal life” turned out to be quite difficult. Such categories of citizens as war invalids, women and children turned out to be especially vulnerable. Many found themselves in a dichotomous position, since the end of the war, which they had been waiting for, did not bring satisfaction, but on the contrary led to the loss of their previous statuses (“victorious heroes”, “women soldiers”, “children waiting for their parents to return from the front”, etc.).
