During the Great Patriotic War, our country gained unique experience in the medical and social rehabilitation of soldiers wounded at the front. This activity had a significant impact on the historical processes of the war and post-war period. From the very beginning of the war, health care institutions engaged in the healing of wounded soldiers at the front focused not only on saving lives, but also on restoring the health of the wounded to the maximum possible extent. According to the accepted doctrine of complex treatment, a wide range of auxiliary methods and techniques were actively used, largely aimed at restoring the patient's functional health. Much attention was paid in hospitals to methods of raising the general tone of the body: blood transfusion was widely practiced, serious efforts were made to organize medical nutrition, it was common to send the wounded for further treatment to hospitals deployed on the basis of sanatoriums. Serious efforts were made to resolve issues with prosthetics of the wounded. Political, educational, and cultural work carried out in evacuation hospitals played a significant role in social adaptation. This work lifted the spirits of the wounded, helped them feel cared for, survive the injuries they received in battle, and contributed to their recovery and adaptation in society. The issues of job training and employment occupied an important place in the social adaptation of the wounded. If at the beginning of the war labor training was practically not carried out, then by the end of 1943 the problem of labor training for the disabled was largely solved. In general, during the war years, a highly effective system of comprehensive rehabilitation of soldiers wounded at the front was developed, which included work on medical rehabilitation and social adaptation. This work often faced difficulties: the novelty of the tasks set, lack of resources, negligence of the performers, but the progressive movement continued throughout the war.
