DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2024-6-15
The article analyzed the main events related to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the armed mutiny of the crew on the Black Sea battleship “Prince Potemkin-Tauride”, which in the Soviet historical narrative was considered as one of the most important events of the first Russian revolution of 1905−1907. The content and implementation of the main decisions of the highest authorities of the USSR related to narrative, ritual-ceremonial (event), monumental commemoration of this event. It is also shown that the most relevant measures directly for Potemkintsy related to their rewarding and material incentives were not included in the initial package of anniversary decisions and were implemented only under the influence of bottom-up initiatives. It is also concluded that half a century after the mutiny on the battleship Potemkin, despite the communicative memory of the living participants in the events, it acquired the characteristic features of a historical and cultural myth, subordinate to the logic of the glorification of the revolutionary movement and the absolutization of the role of the Bolsheviks led by V.I. Lenin.
