Development of Virgin and Fallow Lands: Some Results of the Study

 Issues of agrarian development of Russia in the 20th century. have always attracted the attention of researchers. Now a huge number of articles, monographic works have been published, which reflect the main stages in the study of the history of agriculture. Much attention in the writings is paid to the study of the history of agrarian policy and agrarian transformations, which relate to N.S. Khrushchev era of leadership. The article attempts to highlight some of the results of the development of virgin lands. The study of the virgin land campaign actually begins in the late 1950s and continues to the present. There are still some controversial assessments and a number of controversial issues. However, the material accumulated to date, reflected in the works of historians, serves as the basis for further comprehension of the topic. The development of the policy of virgin and fallow lands is of undoubted relevance due to the fact that up to the present time in historical science there are contradictory and sometimes ambiguous assessments on a wide range of issues.
