The present research is relevant due to the course of implementing the policy aimed at rationalizing the territorial distribution of productive forces and the development of natural resources in the eastern regions, the nature of the migration movement of the population in a number of regions of Siberia has changed. In this regard, it is highly instructive to see how spatial movements in its individual regions have been transformed. While some attention has been paid to migration in Siberia as a whole, there are still many poorly understood aspects of the problem at the regional level. The article considers the scale, trends and territorial directions of migration flows in urban settlements of the Omsk region in the 1960s. The resource base of the research was the All-Union censuses and the materials of the current population registration extracted from the central and regional archives and libraries. The study revealed that spatial movements in the cities of the Omsk region corresponded to the trends characteristic of Russia as a whole. The number of potential rural migrants has decreased, and the volume of intercity flows has increased. The outflow of population from small towns such as Isilkul, Tara, Tyukalinsk and many urban-type settlements has increased. The policy of intensive economic development of the eastern regions in the 1960s practically did not affect the Omsk region, since the main capital investments were initially directed to Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Nevertheless, the cumulative positive balance of migration in cities and towns in the region was high due to the intensive economic development of Omsk at that time.
