The study of the scientific heritage of the outstanding scientists of Russia of the 20th century in the light of the implementation of modern national projects “Science” and “Education” is of particular relevance. The scientific potential of Russia, created over the past century, is still to a large extent the basis on which new priorities and directions of state scientific policy are formed. Among the academic institutes founded at the Novosibirsk Scientific Center (NSC) of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in the late 1950s, there was a representative group of chemistry institutes. New institutes were founded in the fields of catalysis, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemical kinetics and combustion. The names of their organizers – academicians G.K. Boreskov, N.N. Vorozhtsov, A.V. Nikolaev, V.V. Voevodsky are firmly established in the history of academic science and are an integral part of the world scientific heritage. The names of outstanding scientists have also become an integral part of the names of the chemical institutes of the NSC. In the modern scientific world, Boreskov Institute of Catalysis, N.N. Vorozhtsov Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry, Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Voevodsky Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion. The article analyzes the main milestones in the biographies of scientists, which allowed them to start a new business in Siberia and achieve fundamental scientific results in the field of chemical sciences in a short period of time. It also gives a brief description of the activities of the institutes and scientific schools founded by them.
