Museum Pedagogy as a Tool for Actualizing the Ethnocultural Heritage of the Northern Khanty and Altai

 DOI: 10.31518/2618-9100-2021-2-14

The paper is devoted to the study of museum pedagogy and its forms as a tool for actualizing the ethnocultural heritage of the Northern Khanty in the “Zhivun” Nature and Ethnographic Park-Museum of the Shuryshkarsky District of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Altai people in the National Museum of the Altai Republic named after A.V. Anokhin. In order to identify the common and the different, the study was based on the principle of contrast, which determined the choice of the territorial framework – the north and south of Western Siberia; museums – their belonging to different types – ecomuseum and traditional collection museum; museum educational forms – traditional and innovative. It was revealed that a common characteristic for the Natural and Ethnographic Park-Museum “Zhivun” and the National Museum named after A.V. Anokhin is the active development of museum pedagogy as one of the main areas of activity, as well as an innovative creative approach to their creation, focused on the actualization of the ethnocultural heritage and taking into account the needs of society. The adaptive potential of museum pedagogy in both museums has been revealed: difficult weather conditions or a pandemic turned out to be not an obstacle at all, but an opportunity to search and test new museum educational forms. It has been established that the specificity of the museum pedagogical activity of these museums depends on their location and type. Thus, the possibility of using the vast natural and cultural environment of the “Zhivun” park-museum determined the emergence of such an innovative museum and educational form as the children’s ethnographic expedition “Cedar Island”. National Museum named after A.V. Anokhin is located in the republican center, therefore, it has the image task of transmitting the idea of the importance of preserving and updating the ethnocultural heritage as a symbol and guarantor of territorial national autonomy, through museum and educational forms, many of which are interspersed in the program of events of various topics and levels – from international to urban celebrated in the region. It has been proved that museum pedagogy is an effective way to actualize the ethnocultural heritage of the Northern Khanty and Altai, which confirms the diversity and growth in the number of museum and educational forms, as well as the long-term unchanging interest of visitors to the museum activities of the “Zhivun” park-museum and the National Museum named after A.V. Anokhin.
