Exhibition “In the Beginning Was the Word…”: Meanings and Model of Implementation

The article presents the experience of creating and promoting the exhibition dedicated to the language-making and educational activities of Saints Equal-Apostles Kirill and Methodius in the context of development of writing from its start to the current postmodern transformation. The main purpose of the exhibition is to increase the level of total culture and social activity of its participants, the development and assignment, the production of value-based meanings, an understanding of the regional identity of Russian culture and the Siberian region. The educational and design activities of the Department of Theory, the history of culture and museology of the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University in the framework of the exhibition “In the beginning was the Word…”updates the cultural sense of hieroglyphic, alphabets, Slavic books and modern trends in the development of a handwritten tradition. Scientific content and the idea of spatial solution of the exhibition and events, dedicated to it consist in the conceptualization of the process of mastering writing in the factographic known, logical and symbolic aspects, reflection of the image of the world and the world of images in the cultural and historical process. The exhibition “In the beginning was the Word…” was timed to coincide with the day of Slavic writing, which marks the birth of a new writing, acquiring the source of enrichment of the native culture, the emergence of a new impulse for cohesion and development of not only Russian people, but also many peoples speaking Russian. The exhibition materializes the idea of the complex history of the emergence of writing, sacred, and secular meanings related to pictographic, hieroglyphic and alphabetic. The big section is devoted to the activities of Cyril and Methodius, who created for the Slavs the alphabet, which makes it possible to perceive the alphabet as a sacred text, see a variety of Orthodox oldprinted rare books. As a continuation of the handwritten tradition, the exhibition presents the works of students and schoolchildren associated with the understanding of the symbolism of Slavic ABC, oldprinted and handwritten books, semiotics of modern Emoticon.
