The Experience of Expert Networking in Analyzing Biographical Interviews

The Interpretation of the same (or similar) text (interview, memoirs, etc.) by different experts may lead to different results. This situation leads to doubts about the scientific nature of the methods. But we have an opportunity to increase the efficiency of work by integrating individual solutions of experts into the intelligent Internet system. In the context of sociological research the term “increasing efficiency” means the possibility of collective data encoding; storing variants of text interpretations; linking them to primary data; rapid and meaningful exchange of information between members of the research group, etc. The need for data integration is obvious, when working with oral history data (both primary (interview texts) and secondary (field notes, memos, etc.)). At the same time, it is of great importance to establish semantic links between its elements. In the modern world, such tasks are implemented using various information systems. The traditional approach to using IT and Internet systems to collect and integrate the knowledge of a team of experts is based on the use of semantic wiki systems. It is also necessary to create an information space over integrated information. This task requires the use of smart space technologies. The ontological model sets rules for the intellectualization of information suitable for machine processing. Thus, the knowledge base consists of data (semantic content) and rules (ontological model) by which this data is structured. Connections between data allow you to organize the semantic network. The goal of the authors’ team was to increase the efficiency of data interpretation by automating processing and using new services within an information system operating on the basis of a semantic network containing interview texts and related information. As a result of the project implementation, it has been possible to develop a prototype of network interaction of experts in the analysis of biographical interviews in the framework of intelligent Internet systems, in a single information space and service models for collective encoding of information, conducting field and analytical memos.
