Oral History in Russian Historiographic Space in the Years 1990–2010s: Challenges, Achievements and Risks

 The article resumes on the basis of thirty years work in the sphere of oral history some results of its development in the sphere of theory as well as in the practical sphere taking into consideration field experience and historiography base. The author makes an attempt to point out a number of peculiarities of the national variant of development of oral history ower thirty years, the circumstances of its establishing as an independent branch of historical research, the causes of emerging problems, subjective and objective factors of its development, emphasizes the most problematic issues, reasons and conditions of its being in demand at the present moment. For this purpose the author turns to the plots connected with methodology and the process of creation of oral history sources (in the way it was established in Russian practice); as well as with the source characteristic of interview materials, their introduction into the scientific volume and interpretation. For this purpose the author makes an accent not only on successful achievements (first of all in the sphere of taboo subjects in Russian history), or practice existing in the academic sphere, but also on the risks connected with oral history and the issues which are not voiced by the scientific communities and do not have arranged decisions. On the basis of steps of development of oral history and their content pointed out by the author the conclusion is made that one of the obstacles that block of from solving imminent problems is the lack of coordination of oral historians of Russia (Russian association of oral history) and as a result – isolation from the activity of international community of oral historians (International Oral Association of History (IOAH)).
