The article deals with the migration of the population of one of the largest regions of Russia – Western Siberia – in 1950–1959. The region is shown within the boundaries of the West Siberian economic district, which were formed at the time of the all-Union population census of 1959. In this region, significant social transformations of the population were observed during the post-war period. These transformations included: 1) the return of the evacuated population, rehabilitated persons and entire peoples to their former places of residence at the end of the stated period; 2) migration caused by the development of virgin soil and migration of young professionals aimed at overcoming the economic and social weakness of the region. The result of this process is considered. The dynamics of population size and natural migration allows us to restore the results of the whole population migrations in the period under study. The data were never published in the media, because in the USSR there were censorship barriers, and access to statistical information was limited. Therefore, a request was made to the Territorial statistical authorities of Western Siberia regions. The obtained responses contained materials with identical structure and set of information provided. Data and calculations based on them were carried out with a common method of statistical agencies. The data and the calculations allowed to restore dynamic series of migration balances for all regions. The results show a constant outflow of population from Western Siberia to other areas of the country. Absolute numbers are analyzed, net migration indicators are calculated, and the reasons for the outflow of some residents from the region are indicated. The materials are published for the first time.
