The main factors of population fluctuations are noted: mobilization, evacuation, re-evacuation, demobilization, as well as administrative and territorial changes. A comparative analysis of changes in different regions of the region is carried out. The social structure of families of the military personnel, including families of rank and file and command personnel, is considered. It is noted that the families of command personnel comprised a significant part of military families. The data on the distribution of these families among rural and urban residents are presented. It is concluded that the families of the military were one of the largest groups of the population of Western Siberia. The bulk of rank and file families lived in the countryside, and their families were large. The families of command personnel were mainly residents of cities.
