The article is devoted to the study of radio broadcasting history on the Trans-Baikal territory in the first half of the 20th century. Special attention is paid to music broadcasting in the Chita region in the middle of the 20th century. The reason for the study of this topic was the personal (owner’s) collection of music publications belonging to by the music editor of Chita radio Tatyana Danilovna Radina. The collection entered the fond of rare books of the Trans-Baikal Regional Universal Scientific Library Named after Pushkin from the owner in 2008. In the process of studying the issue it was established that very little information about the history of Chita radio during this period has been introduced to scientific circulation. Only few publications and research papers about the development of radio broadcasting in the first half of the twentieth century have been written by Transbaikalian ethnographers. Scientific publications on the development of music broadcasting in the Chita region during the given period were not revealed. It is difficult to study this historical period of development of Chita radio due to the fact that part of the archive of the Chita regional television and radio committee was lost. The history of radio broadcasting in the Chita region in the first half of the 20th century and the pages of the biography of T.D. Radina were reconstructed based on newspaper publications and memoirs of contemporaries. In the study of musical preferences of Chita radio listeners the notes from different years, including the first lifetime editions of the classics of the Soviet stage, were of much help.
