The article discusses the practice of using database technology to study an important source on the history of “the Great Terror” and the activities of extrajudicial bodies of mass repression - triplets of the NKVD and the police of the Altai Territory. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of the results obtained in the processing of information from the protocols of the “militia troika”, as the repression against the marginalized members of society is the least studied issue among the problems of repressive policies of 1937–1938. The materials compiled by the author of the database allow studying in detail the scope and characteristics of repression carried outby the forces of the “militia troika”, identifying the main target groups in respect of which the actions of this non-judicial body were directed. The use of database technology to work with the protocols of triples made it possible to fix the changes that occurred in the composition of the “troika”, to determine the multidimensional sociometric characteristics of convicted persons, as well as the impact of the facts of their personal and criminal biography on the severity of sentences issued by the “troika”.
