Remarks of the editor of the journal’s 2nd issue concern its theme: “Capitalist Russia: from the Great reforms to the Great revolution”. Touching upon the term “Capitalist Russia” (for many historians related to ideological clichés of the Soviet time) the author explains that it is used in this case not as a characteristic of the epoch but as its name free of ideology and not restricted to social an economic relations. Thus the term “Capitalist Russia” is proposed as an alternative to the expression “Russia of the second half of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century”. Stressing high potential of the Capitalist Russia as an object for historical studies the author draws special attention to the history of the pre-revolutionary Siberia. Siberia in his understanding is not a kind of outskirts lagging behind the European Russia but an example of a region offering new perspectives in understanding the All-Russian phenomena.
